Neil Warnock has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 14th June, that he feels Jeff Hendrick has been underrated at Derby County.

Hendrick shone in the Republic of Ireland’s match against Sweden yesterday, and he was very unfortunate not to score.

Hendrick had a host of shots from range, and tested the Swedish goalkeeper on numerous occasions.

Unfortunately, though, it was not to be the Derby midfielder’s day - with one of his shots coming back off the crossbar and rebounding to safety.

Ireland ended up drawing the match 1-1, after Wes Hoolahan’s goal was cancelled out by a Ciaran Clark own-goal.

It was Hendrick’s performance which was the most eye catching in the match, however, with the midfielder showing his class.

And Warnock said: “I think he looks a good player. I think he’s been underrated at Derby for a long time.”

Hendrick was not a permanent starter for Derby last season, as they had a wealth of options in central-midfield.

Hendrick made 36 appearances for Derby in the Championship, but was only included in the Rams’ starting line-up on 21 occasions.
