The winger has been linked with a number of clubs this summer.
Speaking during pre-match coverage of Spain’s win on TV station Tele5, journalist Manu Carreno claimed that Spurs are interested in the 29-year old and that they had staff in Toulouse presumably on a scouting mission.
However, the same report also claims that Manchester City have already reached a deal for the winger while Barcelona remain interested.
Both teams would make for tough competition for Spurs on the transfer front and it is safe to say this rumour can be filed in the category labelled ‘unlikely’.
At 29, Nolito would not represent the young, hungry, good value signing that has become typical under Mauricio Pochettino and reinforcements in his position are not the priority right now.
Quality back-up for Harry Kane and Eric Dier are needed first and foremost and it is far more likely that there is movement on those fronts in the coming weeks.
The most closely linked have been Vincent Janssen – as reported by the Mirror – and Victor Wanyama - according to the London Evening Standard – and Spurs fans will be keen to see those deals get over the line as quickly as possible.
