The Republic of Ireland secured a 1-1 draw against Sweden in their opening Euro 2016 match on Monday, but after a superb first half performance where they dominated their Scandinavian opponents, supporters may a little disappointed that they only came away with a point.
The Green Army took the lead through a stunning right foot half volley early in the second half from Norwich City's Wes Hoolahan, only for Sweden to finally come to life and equalise after a Zlatan Ibrahimovic cross was turned into his net at close range by Aston Villa defender Ciaran Clark.

PSG star Ibrahimovic has been closely linked to Manchester United, with his contract set to expire at the Parc des Princes this summer, but a resolute Irish defence kept him quiet for large sections of the match, while the likes of Hoolahan and Derby County midfielder Jeff Hendrick would have really impressed anyone watching.
After the game, members of the Ireland squad took to Twitter to offer their thoughts on the match, with several looking forward to the remaining fixtures in what is a tough group containing both Italy and Belgium.
Strong start today. Take the positives from it in to the next game. Fans where great as always… https://t.co/bosZ6qd4v4— Jeff Hendrick (@JeffHendrick92) June 13, 2016
