Neil Warnock has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 14th June, that Joey Barton will impress at Glasgow Rangers.
Barton has been Rangers’ highest-profile signing of the summer so far, after he arrived last month.
The 33-year-old is expected to add steel and experience to Rangers’ midfield ranks.
And Warnock, who worked with Barton during their time at QPR together, said: “I think it’s a great move for Joey. He’ll relish it and the thought of playing in Rangers v Celtic in a full stadium, when he will probably be the best player on the pitch if he’s up for it, I think that’s whetted his appetite.”
Barton has already made no secret of his determination to impress at Rangers, and he has made a series of bold claims.
The central-midfielder believes he can be the stand out player in Scottish football and he has also said he is a league above Celtic captain Scott Brown.
Barton has also insisted that he is not at Rangers to finish second, and he wants to win the Scottish Premiership in their first season back in the top flight.
Barton is Rangers’ fourth signing of the summer so far, and more players are expected to arrive at Ibrox in the near future.
