Tottenham Hotspur fans stil have a place in their heart for the 30-year-old schemer.
Croatia kicked off their Euro 2016 campaign with a victory by beating Turkey 1-0 in Paris on Sunday afternoon.
Former Tottenham Hotspur favourite Luka Modric scored the only goal of the game, sending a fine volley past Volkan Babacan from outside the box with four minutes left in the first half.
It has been an eventful couple of weeks for the Croatian magician, having helped Real Madrid to Champions League glory in Milan a few weeks ago - his second European Cup title since joining the Spanish giants from Tottenham in 2013.
He has been gone coming up to three years now, but Spurs fans have certainly retained a huge amount of affection for the playmaker, if their Twitter reaction to his performance was anyhing to go by.

Another former Tottenham man was involved as Vedran Corluka also started for Croatia, with the right-back perhaps fortunate to finish the clash after picking up a head injury which required plenty of bandaging.
It capped a nostalgic couple of days for Spurs fans, who also had to watch Modric's Real team-mate Gareth Bale score a trademark free kick in Wales' 2-1 win over Slovakia on Saturday.
