Northern Ireland players look dejected
Northern Ireland kicked off their Euro 2016 campaign on a disappointing note.
Michael O’Neill’s side went down 1-0 to Poland in their opening Group C game on Sunday.
Arkadiusz Milik’s goal in the 51st minute proved to be the difference between the two sides at the Allianz Riviera in Nice.
Poland were favourites to win the encounter, but Northern Ireland did give them a run for their money.
O’Neill’s players did not give up, and the fact that just a solitary goal separated the two sides underlines the spirit in the team.
After the game, the Northern Ireland players were disappointed, and the following Kyle Lafferty image sums up the mood.

Lafferty was a key player in Northern Ireland’s Euro 2016 qualification campaign, and he will be their main goal threat in France.
The Norwich City forward failed to do much against Poland, and he was understandably disappointed after the match.
Queens Park Rangers striker Conor Washington and West Bromwich Albion defender Gareth McAuley also featured for Northern Ireland (see photos below), and the way they fought and worked hard highlighted the spirit and strong attitude of the squad.
