According to reports from the Manchester Evening News, Manchester City are plotting a huge £84 million double swoop for John Stones and Aymeric Laporte.
Manchester City spent huge amounts to strengthen their central defence by securing the services of the duo of Eliaquim Mangala and Nicolas Otamendi over the past two seasons.
However, both Mangala and Otamendi have not even come close to justifying their enormous price tags at the Etihad Stadium and as a result incoming City boss Pep Guardiola is believed to have prioritized recruiting a couple of central defenders this summer.
Everton’s Stones and Athletic Bilbao’s Laporte have been mentioned as the two main targets for Guardiola and now according to reports, the City manager is ramping up his pursuit to sign the duo.
The Manchester Evening News claims that City are currently plotting a whopping £84 million double swoop for the pair.
It has been reported that City are confident of landing Stones for a fee of around £45 million while the Premier League giants are also ready to activate Laporte’s release clause, which is believed to be in the region of around £39 million.
In addition, the reports reveal that Guardiola is ready to dispense with the services of Mangala and will be keeping hold of Belgian international Jason Denayer for the upcoming campaign.
