Shearer is one of the greatest ever strikers England has produced and perhaps the crowning moment of his international career came at Euro 96, where he finished the tournament as top scorer with five goals.
While Shearer stole the headlines, a major reason behind his wonderful success in front of goal at that tournament was his partnership with fellow striker Sheringham.
Shearer and Sheringham shared an almost telepathic understanding and the duo wreaked havoc on opposition defences for a number of years.
Few English strike partnerships since have come close to matching the Shearer and Sheringham combination but the former has gone on to make a bold admission regarding England’s current crop.
Shearer has stated that he has been impressed by the understanding of Tottenham stars Kane and Alli and believes that the duo is very similar to himself and Sheringham.
Speaking to BBC 5 Live Sport, Shearer said, "They (Kane and Alli) know each others’ game inside out, very much like myself and Teddy Sheringham."
Kane and Alli scored a combined 35 goals in the Premier League last season and while the duo was not quite able to produce their best in the clash against Russia on Saturday, they will surely be key to the Three Lions’ chances as the tournament progresses.
