Germany defender Jonas Hector put in a solid display as his side beat Ukraine this weekend.
The defender was named in Germany’s staring line-up, filling in the left-back role for Joachim Loew’s side.
It proved to be a good evening for the reigning world champions too as goals from Shkrodan Mustafi and Bastian Schweinsteiger saw them to a 2-0 win in their Euro 2016 opening game.
There will be have been keen interest in Hector’s performance, with Liverpool having been continually linked with his signature this summer.
Indeed, last week saw the Daily Mail claiming that Liverpool had scouted him in a recent friendly and he was top of manager Jurgen Klopp’s wish list.
If Klopp was watching his display against Ukraine, he is likely to have been impressed as the stats provided by WhoScored show he put in a solid showing.

It total Hector managed 66 touches, which was just one fewer than attacking star Thomas Muller.
In a game where Germany were not challenged defensively, he was solid, posting one won tackle, two won interceptions, one aerial challenge won and three total clearances.
Passing wise he managed 55 passes in total, with 50 of those being accurate, enjoying an overall pass success of 91%.
That latter total saw him in the top five players in the game, just two per cent behind pass master Toni Kroos.
