According to Sky Italia's Gianluca Di Marzio, Manchester United have joined Barcelona and Napoli in the race to sign Monaco right back Fabinho.

The Red Devils snapped up their first signing of the Jose Mourinho era last week, with Villarreal defender Eric Bailly signing on the dotted line at Old Trafford.

Now though, new manager Mourinho will be looking to bring in other players, with right back believed to be a position near the top of his wish list.

Italian newspaper Tuttosport - as seen on Football Italia - noted that Mourinho wants to sell right back Matteo Darmian to Juventus this summer and bring in a replacement.

Now, Sky Italia's Gianluca Di Marzio, United have now joined the race to sign Monaco star Fabinho, and will battle Barcelona and Napoli for his signature.

Fabinho, 22, has been a star for Monaco since signing from Rio Ave in 2013, initially on a two-year loan deal before a permanent move last summer.

The ex-Real Madrid youngster has four caps for Brazil, and impressed for Monaco this past season with eight caps and four assists to his name in all competitions.

A strong, athletic full back with impressive crossing and technique, Fabinho has been tipped as a star of the future - and United may have an upper hand in the race to sign him, as Fabinho is a client of super-agent Jorge Mendes.

Mendes is a long-term friend of United boss Mourinho, and could help take the Brazilian defender to Old Trafford this summer as United look to add another youthful piece to their defence alongside Bailly and Luke Shaw.
