Burnley are interested in signing Jordan Veretout from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Mail’s Transfer news LIVE blog (14:05, June 13).
Veretout joined Villa from French club Nantes in the summer of 2015 and has a contract until June 2020, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
“The 23-year-old is keen to escape Villa Park and the club want to recoup the majority of the £8million they paid to Nantes last summer,” it has been reported on The Daily Mail’s Transfer news LIVE blog (14:05, June 13).
Villa got relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015-16 campaign and will feature in the Championship next season.
Veretout created 39 chances in 25 Premier League appearances for the Villans this past season.
The former France Under-21 international midfielder had a pass accuracy of 83% and a shot accuracy of 50%, and won 11 headers, 11 dribbles and 23 tackles.
Veretout is a good player, and it is hard to see him play in the Championship next season especially with Premier League clubs’ (reported) interest in him.
Burnley got promoted from the Championship at the end of the 2015-16 campaign and are expected to among the clubs who will fight for survival in the Premier League next season.
