Two days later, Vardy, who netted 24 league goals this past season, was due to undergo a medical with the North London club as a transfer seemed imminent.
However, the trail went cold for a few days and it was then reported by The Guardian that the England international would not make a decision until the Three Lions' participation at Euro 2016 had ended.
"Arsenal told us that they want to pay the clause, but he [Vardy] has not yet decided," he said to Sky Italia ahead of Italy's Euro 2016 clash with Belgium.
It is a huge decision by the striker. At his age, he may never get another shot to play for an elite English club. Of course, he has Champions League football with the Foxes next season, but is that a long-term thing? It could well be at the Gunners.
That being said, he is not guaranteed first-team football under Wenger, be it up front or on the wing, and that may well influence his decision.
