Manchester United's latest young recruit got a surprise at the weekend.
New Manchester United signing Tahith Chong has been pictured enjoying a surprise party to celebrate his switch to Old Trafford.
The 16-year-old left winger posted a message on social media last week confirming he had agreed a mover to United while wearing the club’s shirt. And now the Dutch teenager – who was formerly on the books at Feyenoord – has been presented with a cake emblazoned with his new side’s crest, along with the number 11.
It remains to be seen if Chong will one day take the number once worn with aplomb by Ryan Giggs yet there is no doubt the teenager is a bright young talent who is highly rated in his homeland.
He will surely be hoping to ultimately follow in the footsteps of another teenager from the Netherlands – Timothy Fosu-Mensah – who made his first-team debut for United last season and quickly looked like a star in the making.
United have so far signed Eric Bailly and agreed a deal for Chong, but that will surely only be the start of what looks set to be a very busy summer at Old Trafford with new manager Jose Mourinho eager to mount a title challenge.
