Chelsea are ready to ask Jose Mourinho to sell him one of his new charges at Manchester United as Antonio Conte wants his Italian right-back Matteo Darmian, according to Bleacher Report UK.

The 26-year-old joined United last summer from Torino for £12million but after a bright start to his Old Trafford career he was far from a regular come the turn of the year.

Now Bleacher Report UK understands that Conte wants Darmian to join him in West London, when he takes his place in the Stamford Bridge hot-seat later this summer.

Now Mourinho is understood to be happy to let Darmian leave - although it remains to be seen whether he would sanction a deal with his former club.

Conte sees Darmian as an ideal signing and could slot straight into his right-sided role, as he contemplates playing 3-5-2 with Chelsea next season.

Darmian, who could also play in the back three, has been a regular under Conte for the national side since he took charge in 2014.
