David Thompson has suggested on social networking site Twitter that Liverpool should not make a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze in the summer transfer window.
The former Liverpool midfielder made the suggestion following Germany’s Euro 2016 game against Ukraine on Sunday evening.
Gotze featured in the Group C match at Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Villeneuve-d’Ascq, as Germany won 2-0.
The 24-year-old created two chances, had a pass accuracy of 93%, and won two headers and two tackles.
Thompson was following the match, and he was not impressed with the former Borussia Dortmund star's performance.
Thompson believes that Liverpool should not make a move for Gotze in the summer transfer window, and has advised the Merseyside outfit to look for leaders instead.
Wasn't gotze best game in all fairness to him!i also do t think he should be a priority for #lfc need some proper leaders— David Thompson (@77thomo) June 12, 2016
Gotze did not play regularly for Bayern this past season and has been linked with a move to Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
French news outlet Foot Mercato, though, claimed last week that Liverpool have turned their attention towards Sofiane Boufal of Lille as a deal to sign Gotze has stalled.
