Slaven Bilic has told The Mail that Dimitri Payet is happy at West Ham United, amid speculation over his future with the Premier League club.

It was reported recently (Le10 Sport) that Real Madrid were readying a £40 million bid for the 29-year-old, who scored a last-minute wonder goal to help France beat Romania 2-1 in their Euro 2016 opener in Paris on Friday night.

That was just the latest in a long line of stunning efforts scored by the former Marseille man over the past nine months or so, following a £10 million summer move to West Ham.

Indeed, Payet is playing the best football of his career, and Bilic has revealed that his prized asset is happy with life in East London.

"After that (the Euros), what happens, happens but we know he is happy at West Ham," the Hammers manager wrote in The Mail.

Payet, who scored 12 times and set up 14 in all competitions this past season, signed a long-term contract with the Irons earlier this year, meaning that whoever is interested, he will not come cheap.

Worst case scenario, West Ham will smash their record sale for a player who turns 30 in nine months, and Bilic, who has proven himself quite adept in the transfer market, could do a lot of good with the transfer fee.
