France's Dimitri Payet celebrates after the game
The Hammers star was the hero for host nation France in the competition's curtain raiser versus Romania as his 89th-minute stunner helped Les Bleus to a 2-1 victory.
West Ham fans will not have been surprised by the goal, having seen the 29-year-old score plenty of world-class goals during a hugely successful first season with the Irons last year.

Bilic signed him from Marseille for a bargain-busting £10 million last summer, and the Croatian arguably knows how to get the best out of him.
That is even more evident now after the West Ham manager revealed that he gave Payet a quick confidence boost in the form of a text message before the game last week.

"Before France played Romania on Friday night, I texted Dimitri Payet to wish him all the best. The text read: 'Enjoy it, you have nothing to prove, you are the best player there.'," he wrote in The Mail.
"I wasn't wrong, was I? He was fantastic, not only with his late match-winning goal but overall. France were playing everything through him."
The French are back in action on Wednesday when they host Albania, before then rounding off their Group A campaign by facing Switzerland in arguably the toughest game of the pool.
