Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin has fuelled recent transfer speculation by calling Jordi Alba a role model and sharing his wish to emulate the Barcelona full-back, Spanish publication AS report.

The Gunners’ speedy fullback is a Barcelona academy graduate and has been heavily linked with a return to the Nou Camp as the Catalans search for a Dani Alves replacement, report Diario Sport.

Bellerin seemingly ticks all the right boxes for Barcelona, and Arsenal supporters know it could only be a matter of time before the youngster heads back to the Spanish giants.

Adding to the speculation surrounding his future, the right-back spoke highly of Barca man Alba and admitted he wished to emulate his success and make a breakthrough with the Spanish national team.

“Alba is a role model for me, he is a defender who likes to attack. I wish to emulate him. We have similar styles, I’m not sure who is faster but importantly we both are and we can help the team,” Bellerin told AS.

Arsenal have lost a number of players to Barcelona in recent years, including trio Alex Song, Thomas Vermaelen and Cesc Fabregas who like Bellerin was an academy graduate with the Catalans.

With Alves seemingly set to join Juventus this summer, Luis Enrique’s men will need to bring in a new right-back and there is arguably nobody more suited to the role than Bellerin.

The 21-year-old has made over 70 appearances for Arsenal since breaking through 18 months ago, while he has three Spanish caps to his name.
