The Arsenal striker scored the opening goal in the win over Romania.
The striker is France’s first-choice striker this summer with Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema out of the team. His place in the side has been met with fierce criticism from the country's fans, who recently booed him in a friendly.
He went some way to answering his critics in the opening Euro 2016 win over Romania, as he headed the first goal in a 2-1 win.
And he has answered those criticising him, saying that he should be judged on his statistics.
"My statistics speak for themselves," he told Sky Sports.
"I had a lot of pressure on me and there was a lot of expectation. But I'm continuing my run of form and that's good for me."
The pressure is certainly on Giroud to prove his critics wrong this summer as France look to win the tournament on home soil.
It is not just on the international stage he has to prove himself, with his place in the Arsenal team under threat also.
The Gunners are expected to add a striker to their squad this summer, and Giroud will need a strong tournament to ensure both his place in the France team and the Arsenal side in the future.
