The maverick forward has been linked with a move to the Premier League side.
Roy Keane has admitted that he sees some similarities between Eric Cantona and reported Manchester United target Zlatan Ibrahimovic and believes that the Swede would be a good signing for the Red Devils, the Daily Mail reports.
The Mail claims that Jose Mourinho is ready to complete a deal to sign the former Paris Saint-Germain forward this summer, and Keane is clearly confident that he will prove to be an excellent addition to the squad by suggesting that he has the attributes to emulate Cantona.
"Of course he is a good fit for United, he's a good player," he told the Mail.
"They're big characters, clearly, whatever you say about Cantona, he was a popular lad, and I get the impression Zlatan is the same."
Though if Ibrahimovic was to join United this summer, he would be signing at an age that is considerably older than the age Cantona was when he retired from professional football, and thus, it is unlikely that the striker would be able to have the same impact that the Frenchman had during his five-year spell, he would still surely be a fantastic signing.
His goalscoring record continues to amaze - he scored 38 goals in just 31 Ligue 1 games this past year - and with United fans having to watch their top goalscorer manage just 11 strikes in the top flight this past term, they would surely be delighted with anything that comes close to his recent record, especially considering he is available on a free transfer and is supposedly in the twilight of his career.
And with the confidence he exudes when he is out on the pitch, it would not be a surprise if he inspired the side in a way that Cantona often used to with moments of sheer brilliance.
