Wales' Simon Church and Israel's Eitan Tibi in action
According to The Sunday Post, Israeli international centre back Eitan Tibi rejected an offer to join Rangers in order to sign a new contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv.
It's no great secret that Rangers are in the market for a new central defender this summer. Rob Kiernan and Danny Wilson had some ups and downs this past season, and loanee Dominic Ball has now returned to Tottenham Hotspur.
With only two senior defenders in the ranks, Rangers need to land an experienced centre back, but reports suggest they have missed out on one.
The Sunday Post report that Rangers made an offer to Israeli centre back Eitan Tibi - but he has snubbed the chance to join the Ibrox club in favour of signing a new deal with Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Tibi, 28, has racked up 20 caps for Israel whilst he's also won the Israeli Premier League five times and played in the Champions League for Maccabi Tel Aviv.
A strong centre back with impressive aerial ability, Tibi is believed to have had the chance to follow in the footsteps of compatriots Avi Cohen and Bonni Ginzburg in playing for Rangers - but he has instead chosen to extend his contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv for another four years.
If true that Rangers did make an approach to Tibi, that means that manager Mark Warburton will have to look elsewhere for defensive reinforcements, especially with no movement on Steven Taylor, after the former Newcastle defender visited the club last week.
