According to The Mail, Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has identified Villarreal hitman Cedric Bakambu as a transfer target this summer.

The 25-year-old made waves for the Spanish club this past season after netting 25 goals in 38 starts (ESPN) - 12 of which came in the Europa League as his side were beaten semi-finalists by Liverpool.

Having finished in the Premier League last time around, Crystal Palace, beaten FA Cup finalists, will certainly need a tad bit more firepower next term, with Emmanuel Adebayor - who joined in January - and Connor Wickham netting seven times in 40 games between them.

And, according to The Mail, the Eagles will look for Bakambu to make up a new-look strikeforce which includes Fiorentina's Khouma Babacar.

The report does not name a price, but the Congolese marksman is contracted to the El Madrigal club until 2020, meaning that Crystal Palace are unlikely to pick him up on the cheap.

Palace fans who watched him in the Europa League second leg defeat at Liverpool may be worried, too, On that night, he looked completely ineffective.
