Sunderland defender Adam Matthews has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to Wales’s win in their opening match of the Euro 2016 finals.

Wales got the better of Slovakia in their opening Group B game in France on Saturday evening.

Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale put Wales in the lead at the Matmut Atlantique in Bordeaux after just 10 minutes with a dipping free kick.

Ondrej Duda equalised for Slovakia just past the hour mark, but Hal Robson-Kanu scored the winner for Chris Coleman’s side in the 81st minute.

Wales international right-back Matthews was following the match, and he was pleased with the win.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United goalkeeper Rob Elliot has taken to Twitter to praise the Wales team for their performance and result against Slovakia.

The Republic of Ireland international has also congratulated young Liverpool goalkeeper Danny Ward on featuring in the match.

The 22-year-old started in goal after first-choice custodian Wayne Hennessey was ruled out of the game between Wales and Slovakia in Bordeaux due to a back injury.
