Southampton right-back Cedric Soares says he is flattered to be linked with Barcelona but insists his immediate focus will be on his nation’s Euro 2016 campaign, the Mirror report.

The Mirror accredit Barcelona with having an interest in the Saints ace after an impressive campaign.

Barcelona are keen on signing a new fullback with Dani Alves expected to join Juventus this summer, and the Catalan giants seemingly have a number of candidates currently plying their trade in England.

Spanish duo Cesar Azpilicueta and Hector Bellerin have been linked, as per the report in the Mirror, though Southampton’s Soares has emerged as the latest shock target for the La Liga giants.

Responding to the reports, Soares admits it’s flattering to hear when a big club comes calling, saying: “It’s always interesting for a player when such an important club and a big name show you their attention.”

“But I can’t be thinking about it because I must be focused on the national team.”

Soares made 24 Premier League starts for the Saints this past season, helping the club finish sixth.

His performances towards the end of the season garnered much attention in the media, and it was rewarded with international recognition and a spot in Portugal’s Euro 2016 squad.

Hi future, along with a number of other Southampton players, could be in the balance should boss Ronald Koeman trade St. Mary’s for the vacant Everton managerial post in the coming weeks.
