Manchester City have told Aymeric Laporte that he has until the end of the month to decide whether he wants to make a move to the Etihad this summer, the Daily Star reports.

The Athletic Bilbao defender has an offer on the table from the Sky Blues that would see his wages tripled should he move to England in the coming months, the Star claims, but with Barcelona also interested, newly-appointed City boss Pep Guardiola is keen to receive an answer either way.

The Star reports that the 22-year-old therefore has until the end of June to let the Citizens know whether he would want to make the switch before they begin to seriously consider other targets, one of which being Everton's John Stones.

With City's biggest weakness arguably being their options at the back - Vincent Kompany's most recent campaign was blighted by injury, while several of their defenders are 30 or older - Guardiola clearly feels that Laporte is the kind of player that will breathe fresh life into the back line.

But while the youngster has been one of the brightest prospects in La Liga in recent years, City fans may be concerned about parting with a large fee to bring him to the club given the struggles that both Nicolas Otamendi and Eliaquim Mangala have endured since their arrivals.
