Sunderland's Steven Fletcher

Aston Villa and Hull City are interested in signing released Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Record.

Fletcher is a free agent at the moment, having recently been released by Premier League outfit Sunderland.

According to The Daily Record, Scottish Premiership giants Celtic were already interested in the 29-year-old striker, and now Villa and Hull have joined the race.

The Villans will play in the Championship next season after getting relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.

As for Hull, the Tigers will feature in the Premier League next season after winning promotion via the Championship playoffs.

Celtic will start the 2016-17 season as favourites to clinch the Scottish Premiership.

The Bhoys will also be aiming to return to the group stage of the Champions League next season after a two-year absence.

The chance to feature in Europe’s premier club competition next season and also to play against Rangers could be tempting to Fletcher.

Villa are a big club, but would the Scotland international striker be willing to play in the Championship when he could feature in the Premier League or in the Scottish Premiership?
