The Krasnodar forward has had an incredible 2015-16 season in Russia.
Krasnodar's Fedor Smolov (R, front) in action against Borussia Dortmund's Sven Bender
It is hard to believe that it is now eight years since Andrey Arshavin took the European Championships by storm for Russia.
If the Russians are to do something again another player will have to emerge onto the scene – with star players Alan Dzagoev and Igor Denisov both battling injury.
Could Fedor Smolov be the one to watch? And could he be perfect for Everton?
Smolov has had an incredible season in Russia’s Premier League.
He has scored 23 goals in 44 games this season and also grabbed eight assists in a fantastic campaign.
He has scored some wonderful goals this season and the 26-year-old Krasnodar forward plays almost as a cross between Dimitar Berbatov and Andrei Arshavin - but with the breaking speed of Javier Hernandez.
He has scored five goals in 12 caps for Russia and will be a real threat to England and Russia – if he gets a chance.
Perfect for Everton?
Everton need to make new signings this summer and Smolov would be a perfect recruit. He can score goals, would be able to mix it with the physical side of the English game and can play in a variety of positions.
With Romelu Lukaku set to leave and the club already short in the wide areas, Smolov could be the perfect antidote to the uninspired performances of Oumar Niasse since his arrival from Russian football.
