Arsenal's £35 million man Granit Xhaka put in a man-of-the-match winning performance as Switzerland kicked off their Euro 2016 campaign with a slender 1-0 win over 10-man Albania in Lens on Saturday.
Fabian Schaer's strike after just five minutes was enough to give the Swiss all three points in their Group A opener - a result which was made much easier by the fact they faced 10 men for nearly an hour following Lorik Cana's first-half red card.
Switzerland fans were understandably delighted, but so too were Arsenal supporters; many of whom would've been watching their new signing for the first time following his big-money move from Borussia Monchengladbach last month.
The 23-year-old midfielder certainly looked the part against the Albanians, clocking 129 touches on the day - a Swiss record for somebody at a European Championships.
The new Arsenal man looks comfortable in possession, which you'd expect from an Arsene Wenger signing, though it must be noted his country's numerical advantage undoubtedly contributed to the amount of ball he saw in the 90 minutes.
But indeed, Arsenal fans were impressed and many of them revealed as much on Twitter afterwards
Xhaka looks so comfortable on the ball & rarely loses it, he will dictate our play like Arteta used to, but is stronger & a better tackler!— Carl Bövis ⚽ (@CarlBovis_AFC) June 11, 2016
If Xhaka plays anything like he's playing today, he's gonna be awesome for our midfield next season. #afc— Sean Wilson (@WilsonFC2012) June 11, 2016
