Arsenal legend Tony Adams has told The Sun that Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Walker and Danny Rose should start for England against Russia this weekend.

England will take on Russia in their opening Euro 2016 game at Stade Velodrome in Marseille on Saturday evening.

The former England international defender believes that the two Tottenham full-backs should start for the Three Lions.

However, Adams does not seem to convinced by Walker or by Liverpool right-back Nathaniel Clyne.

“I would go for Spurs pair Kyle Walker and Danny Rose as the full-backs,” Adams told The Sun. “They are the more defensively orientated.

“Kyle is still not fantastic defensively but I worry about attackers coming in on their right foot against Nathaniel Clyne.

“Danny is a bit firmer in the tackle and more aggressive, with more of an understanding of back-post defending.”

Walker scored one goal and created 34 chances in 33 Premier League appearances for Tottenham this past season.

The England international right-back had a pass accuracy of 78% and a shot accuracy of 54%, and won 49 headers, 17 dribbles and 72 tackles.

Rose scored one goal and created 24 chances in 24 league matches for Spurs during the 2015-16 campaign.

The England international left-back had a pass accuracy of 79% and a shot accuracy of 22%, and won 22 headers, 28 dribbles and 56 tackles.

Clyne scored one goal and created 24 chances in 33 Premier League games for Liverpool this past season.

The Liverpool right-back had a pass accuracy of 79% and a shot accuracy of 38%, and won 10 headers, 23 dribbles and 63 tackles.
