According to the Daily Star, Liverpool have begun talks with Emre Can over an extended deal at Anfield.
The German midfielder still has two years left to run on his existing deal, but the Reds are keen to add to that.
The 22-year-old has been a regular in the side since Jurgen Klopp’s arrival at the club in October, putting in a number of impressive performances along the way.

And those displays have clearly caught his manager’s eye, with the report claiming Klopp has been impressed enough to try and get the midfielder signed to a new and improved deal.
But just how drastic has Can’s improvement been under the German manager? We decided to find out.

And as the stats show, he improved in six of eight areas in 22 Premier League games under Klopp compared to the 35 games before his arrival at the club.
On a per game basis, he won more tackles and more interceptions, as well as winning the ball back more often and posting more ball recoveries.

He also managing significantly more accurate passes per game, although his overall passing accuracy did take a slight hit.
When it came to his involvement in games, he posted more touches per game than before, although that did see a slight increase in his number of unsuccessful touches.
Nonetheless, an impressive improvement from Can, who on this evidence is more than deserving of a new Liverpool deal.
