According to a report in the Daily Echo, Andre Villas-Boas will not be taking the Southampton job.
The former Tottenham Hotspur boss is currently unemployed following his departure from Zenit St. Petersburg.
Villas-Boas was the third favourite to land the Saints job with the bookies’, with the south coast club reportedly keen on the Portuguese boss.
However, his agent has reportedly confirmed the the Daily Echo that Villas-Boas does not want to take the job at St. Mary’s.
The 38-year-old manager is keen to take a break from football, and intends to spend the next six months away from the game.
Southampton are expected to step up their search for a new manager when Ronald Koeman’s move to Everton officially goes through.
Koeman is expected to become the next Everton manager in the coming days.
At the moment the likes of Frank De Boer and Manuel Pellegrini are amongst the favourites to take over at Southampton.
