Earlier this week HITC Sport reported on the future of Manchester United attacker Nick Powell.

It was reported that Wigan Athletic were keen on bringing in the player back to the club, but that Leeds United – along with Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa and Norwich City – were also keen on his signature.

Leeds could certainly be a good move for Powell, as he would be reunited with an old friend from his formative years at Crewe Alexandra.

Powell was part of the Crewe Alexandra team that won the 2012 League Two play-offs - scoring a sensational volley in the final against Cheltenham Town – prior to his move to Manchester United, which according to the BBC cost the Red Devils around £6 million.

Leeds United midfielder Luke Murphy was also in that team.

Powell joined Manchester United that summer, while Murphy, the older of the pair, left for Leeds United a year later.

Since then Murphy has established himself as a solid Championship player whilst Powell has battled injury and fitness worries in his fight to make it at United.

Perhaps their reunion could help bring the best out of both players, much to the benefit of Garry Monk and his Leeds team.
