24-year-old midfielder Ali Ghazal is one of three Portuguese based players linked with making a move to Leeds United.

Portuguese newspaper Record reported that Leeds are also keen on his fellow Nacional teammates Rui Correia and Salvador Agra.

Egyptian international Ghazal is an intriguing player, playing mainly as a defensive midfielder, he is also capable of dropping into central defence.

With loanees Liam Bridcutt and Tom Adeyemi returning to their clubs and Leeds futures uncertain, Ghazal could strengthen the Whites in midfield, while Tommasso Bianchi was also sold.

Ghazal almost came to England once before, earlier in his career, and could have teamed up with none other than current Leeds United head coach Garry Monk.

Egyptian website King Fut reported in 2013 that Swansea City were one of two teams keen to sign him from Nacional, along with French club Saint Etienne.

Monk was at the time still playing for the Swans, taking over as manager in 2014.

This was just months after he signed for Nacional when he was just 21 and the Portuguese club managed to hang onto him.

He has gone onto make 93 appearances for the club, and with a contract until 2018, they are under no pressure to sell.

It remains to be seen if Monk is himself interested in a move for Ghazal or any of his Nacional teammates, or whether they have simply been suggested to him.
