Former Celtic scout Neil McGuinness has suggested five players Celtic could sign with a budget of £15 million, in quotes published by the Herald Scotland.

McGuinness was tasked with domestic and European scouting at Parkhead for six years and is credited with the discoveries of Virgil Van Dijk and Stefan Johansen.

It’s unclear what kind of budget Brendan Rodgers will have at his disposal this summer, but tasked with spending £15 million, McGuinness revealed his top five would-be targets.

1) Nicolai Jorgensen – 25 – Striker – Copenhagen

First up is versatile forward Jorgensen who McGuiness describes as ‘tall and strong’ while also possessing ‘very quick feet’. The frontman has been capped by Denmark and McGuiness suggests £3 million could be enough to capture his services.

2) Onyinye Wilfred Ndidi - 19 - Defensive midfielder – Genk

Next is powerful holding midfielder Ndid who impressed in Belgium last season and who could be grabbed for around £4 million, according to McGuiness. The youngster is described as ‘very powerful’ while having ‘great positional awareness and timing’.

3) Bartosz Kapustka - 19 - Cracovia - Attacking Midfielder

Another 19-year old is the next recommendation. Versatile number 10 Kapustka, currently with the Poland squad for the Euros, available for around £2.5 million.

4) Nikola Vukcevic - 24 - Defensive midfielder – Braga

McGuiness’ fourth tip is for Braga’s Vukcevic, a holding midfielder with a ‘very quick turn of pace’ who is highly technical. His valued is estimated to be in the £2.5-3.5 million range.

5) Giovanni Sio - 27 - Striker – Rennes

Last but not least is the most senior of the bunch, 27-year old Rennes forward Sio. McGuiness cites his ‘sharp movement’ and ‘tidy finishes’ as his best assets.
