Ryan Mason has given an early prediction for next season.
Mason was speaking to HITC Sport via telephone interview as part of the Farah menswear #MatchReady campaign
The 24-year-old was quizzed over who he expects to make up next season's top four. Perhaps unsurprisingly, he made a notable omission from his selection:
Mason will be hoping to feature more regularly for Spurs next season
Given the rivalry that exists in North London between Mason's side and Arsenal, it comes as little shock that he is hoping the Gunners will not finish amongst the Champions League places, although the prediction was surely made more with his heart than his head. Arsenal have failed to finish outside the top four since Arsene Wenger took over as manager in 1996.
Mason also elaborated on who he is most looking forward to facing in next season's premier European club competition.
"From a personal point of view I would love to play against Real Madrid or Barcelona, they're the two stand-out names for me."
Tottenham will certainly have their work cut-out next season if they are to achieve success both domestically and on the continent. There were signs towards the end of last season that their key players were suffering from fatigue with manager Mauricio Pochettino opposing the idea of squad rotation.
One suspects heavy investment in the Tottenham squad over the summer will be necessary in order for them to improve on last season's effort.
Mason has made 70 appearances for the Lilywhites since joining them as a trainee in 2008.
