Aston Villa boss Roberto Di Matteo has reportedly identified a potential signing.

Aston Villa manager Roberto Di Matteo has set his sights on bringing West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Boaz Myhill back to the club, according to The Express and Star.

The 33-year-old began his career at Aston Villa, originally joining as a 12-year-old in 1994 before leaving to join Hull City in 2003.

The former Wales international now finds himself at Villa's West Midlands rivals, but a shortage of first-team opportunities has made him consider his future.

He barely featured in the second half of the campaign this past season as Ben Foster won back the number one shirt and, at his age, Myhill is keen for regular games.

The Express and Star have now reported that Di Matteo - who signed him for the Baggies in 2010 - wants to bring Myhill back to Villa Park.

Aston Villa's current number one had a somewhat erratic 2015-16 campaign and there might be a window of opportunity there for Myhill, if the report is accurate.

Di Matteo obviously rates him and it will be interesting to see whether or not a move materialises. Myhill's contract expires next summer.
