Banker told to give ex-wife everything after blowing fortune

A CITY banker who blew nearly all his family's money on spread betting because he did not want to be seen as a "wimp" by co-workers has been ordered to hand every penny that is left to his ex-wife.

The Daily Express reports that "gifted and talented" Amit Goyal, 39, earned up to £300,000-a-year as a trader for Deutsche Bank and UBS in London, but is now on benefits and over £650,000 in debt.

The former high-flyer and his beauty therapist wife, Ankita Ghuman, 35, went from enjoying "holidays and high living" on his six-figure wages to both being left dependent on state handouts, due to Goyal's "financial recklessness to the detriment of his family".

After the couple split in 2011, Goyal told a divorce court that he experienced "peer pressure" to gamble from other bankers, which had led him to "fritter away" his family's money.
