Sheffield Wednesday have reportedly opened talks with Daniel Pudil's representatives about the possibility of signing the defender on a permanent deal, according to the Sheffield Star.

The 30-year-old moved to Hillsborough from Watford on a season-long loan at the start of this past campaign, and was nearly able to secure his second consecutive promotion to the Premier League

Despite missing out on going up however - as a moment of brilliance from Mohamed Diame handed Hull City a victory in the play-off final - the Star reports that the Czech Republic international is keen to stay with the Owls after becoming an important member of Carlos Carvalhal's side.

If Wednesday manage to keep hold of Pudil, it will certainly benefit their chances of putting themselves in the promotion picture once again next season.

The left-back was one of the most consistent performers in Carvalhal's squad, so would undoubtedly be one of the men that the Portuguese would have been hoping to keep hold of to ensure that they put themselves in a position to go one better next year, after the disappointment of narrowly missing out on a place in the Premier League.
