Former Spurs striker Roberto Soldado has sent well wishes to his departing team-mate Eric Bailly – and managed a slight dig at Arsenal in the process.

Manchester United today confirmed the capture of the 22-year old defender on their official site, subject to a work permit, and Soldado took to Twitter to send this message:

Publicising his distaste for Arsenal is sure to go down well with a Spurs support who generally took the Spaniard to their hearts despite his lacklustre return and failure to settle at White Hart Lane.

Soldado managed just 16 goals in 76 games during a difficult two-year spell after joining as part of the post-Gareth Bale spending spree but endeared himself to fans with his work ethic and affable personality off-the-pitch.

Eric Bailly arrives at Old Trafford after an impressive season at the Estadio El Madrigal and becomes Jose Mourinho’s first signing as United boss.

The former Chelsea manager is tasked with turning around the Red Devils’ fortunes and despite their failure to qualify for the Champions League twice in the last four seasons, Mourinho will be expected to mount a sustained title challenge.
