Sissoko seems intent on leaving Newcastle United following their relegation to the Championship.
Newcastle United have put an asking price of £20 million on midfielder Moussa Sissoko according to a report in the Shields Gazette.
It seems that Sissoko is looking for a move away from the club this summer following their relegation to the Championship, but on the face of things Newcastle are determined to get a decent fee for the French international.
The report also states that manager Rafa Benitez will demand face to face talks after Sissoko has returned to the club following his participating with France at Euro 2016.
There have been suggestions that Sissoko will look for a move to Arsenal and that their manager Arsene Wenger could be interested in taking him to the Emirates Stadium.
Recent quotes from Sissoko suggests his days are numbered on Tyneside, where he said: “It is flattering that a coach like him, a great coach, wants to keep me. But I think that he is aware I have reached a level where playing in the Championship would be difficult for me.
“As I want to stay in the French national team I cannot stay in the Championship. There will be discussions. I hope that they go in the right direction. I want to leave.”
Sissoko seems determined to play in at least the top flight in order to keep himself firmly in the picture when it comes to selection for his country, but it seems that Newcastle are going to play hardball in terms of a transfer fee.
It is hard to recall a time, if there has been one, that a fee of £20 million has changed hands to buy a player that has just been relegated from the Premier League.
