Back in January, Arsenal were linked by The Sun with a staggering £42 million move for Borussia Dortmund ace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The prolific striker scored 36 goals last season, and is one of Europe's most wanted forwards.

It now appears Manchester City are in pole position for his signature, with SkySports reporting Pep Guardiola has made the Gabon ace his top target, and they are reportedly closing in.

A deal would be huge for City and make a major statement, potentially being a game changer in next year's title race before it has even begun.

Arsenal meanwhile, are simply left hoping Jamie Vardy accepts their offer to join the club, but so far there has been silence since his release clause was met, and he deliberates a decision.

A number of Arsenal fans were not convinced Vardy was the right player for them, but admired the pro-active approach from the club to try and close a deal for last year's Football Writers Player of the Year.

But as the saga drags on without resolution, and Vardy off to Euro 2016 with England, seeing Aubameyang potentially head to City has Gooners green with envy, and asking whether they are simply wasting their time chasing the Leicester City striker.
