Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher has told The Scottish Sun that Brendan Rodgers is a good managerial appointment for Celtic.
Rodgers has been appointed the new Celtic manager following the departure of Ronny Deila.
The former Liverpool and Swansea City boss is a brilliant coach and a very good manager.
Celtic fans will expect Rodgers to guide the team back into the group stage of the Champions League next season.
Scotland international striker Fletcher believes that Rodgers will prove to be a good managerial appointment for Celtic.
“It’s a great appointment, a great step forward for Celtic,” Fletcher told The Scottish Sun. “The fans want Champions League football and to do well in it — and with him it’s a step in the right direction.”
Interestingly, Fletcher has been linked with a move to Scottish Premiership giants Celtic in the summer transfer window.
The Sunderland Echo recently claimed that Celtic are the main suitors of the former Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers striker.
Former Celtic striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink has also backed Rodgers to be a success at the Glasgow giants.
“Players want to play at Celtic Park, so I hope Brendan Rodgers coming here will make players who maybe wouldn’t have come before decide to move now,” Vennegoor of Hesselink told The Scottish Sun.
“Having a top manager at a club, someone who has worked at a club like Liverpool, can only help when you are trying to attract players. His arrival will give the whole place a lift.”
