The Newcastle United midfielder was keen to praise the club's loyal fans.
The 2015/16 season proved to be a disastrous one for Newcastle as they were relegated from the Premier League.
Despite a dismal campaign they were still fiercely backed by the Magpies faithful, as home attendances never fell below 46,000 in the league.
They were well supported on the final day, with St James’ Park a sell-out despite the fact the club had already been relegated.
They are likely to be strongly backed in the Championship next season, but Colback says they do not deserve to be there.
"The fans were unbelievable," he told nufc.co.uk. "Fans like this don't deserve to be in the Championship and the way they supported us throughout the season was phenomenal.”
It will now be interesting to see if the Newcastle fans have something to cheer about next season.
They are expected to challenge for the Championship title under Rafa Benitez, but the division is likely to be fiercely contested with the likes of Norwich City and Aston Villa sure to be competitive, too.
Either way, Newcastle are sure to be followed by the Geordie faithful, who will be hoping to pack out St James' Park at the end of next season to celebrate a return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
