Liverpool are expected to do well under Jurgen Klopp next season.
The Reds are expected to be busy in the summer transfer window as manager Jurgen Klopp moulds the squad to better suit his needs.
Should he be able to do that, many are expecting a strong season from them based on the form that they showed in the German’s first seven months in charge.
They reached two cup finals in that time, while the extra rest they will have from not playing in Europe should also be a big boost for the side.
And James believes they are in a good position to mount a title challenge next season.
"The focus next season without having European football, akin to Leicester, will help Jurgen with his bid to win the Premier League," he told talkSPORT.
“I think next season will be a good one for him. The recruitment will be key more importantly the quality of the coaching on the training field will put Liverpool in a good position to challenge.”
The problem for Liverpool is that next season is likely to be one in which making the top four, never mind winning the Premier League, is likely to be a huge challenge.
Chelsea should bounce back, while both Manchester City and Manchester United will be keen to challenge under Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho respectively.
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur should also be in the mix, while there is no discounting Leicester City either, meaning Liverpool will have to be near perfect to challenge for the title.
