Vardy is part of the 23-man England squad for the European Championship. The Leicester striker deserves to be in the squad for his truly great performances this past season.
Wenger, though, does not expect Vardy to start for England at the Euro 2016 finals in France.
“I don’t think that he (Vardy) will be a starter,” Wenger told beIN Sports, as reported by The Mirror, about Vardy’s chances of starting for England in their opening Euro 2016 game against Russia. “He has earned a place in the squad.
“I don’t say this because he does not have the quality, but because he doesn’t have enough experience at that level to say the whole tournament will depend on Vardy.”
Interestingly, Arsenal have been linked with a move for Vardy in the summer transfer window.
Vardy had a truly great season for Leicester in 2015-16, but he would be a risk for the North London outfit.
The Englishman has had just one great season in the Premier League, and there will be doubts on whether he would fit into Arsenal’s style.
