Ex-Newcastle United Steven Taylor defender is reportedly on the verge of a move to Ibrox with Glasgow Rangers, but Leeds United should consider a deal.
With Steven Taylor reportedly wanting a move to a Championship club - according to the Glasgow Evening Times - Leeds United should make a move.
Taylor is set to become a free agent, with Newcastle United deciding against renewing the 30-year-old’s contract.
Glasgow Rangers have been linked with Taylor, and the defender is due to have talks with Mark Warburton over a move to Ibrox in the near future.
Rangers are currently in pole position to sign Taylor, but he reportedly wants to stay in England.
As a result, Leeds should make sure that they enter the running for Taylor as he looks like the perfect addition for Garry Monk’s side.
One of Monk’s first priorities at Leeds should be to sign a centre-back, as it is arguably the weakest area of the Yorkshire side’s squad.
While Liam Cooper is a fairly reliable Championship player, Sol Bamba had an error prone campaign last season and Giuseppe Bellusci is not exactly a popular figure at Elland Road.
Taylor would not only add quality, but also top flight experience to Leeds’ ranks, and on a free transfer he would be a bargain buy for Monk’s side, as they aim to make it into the top six.
