Responding to a question on social networking site Twitter, Rodney Marsh has backed Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud to finish as top scorer at Euro 2016.

The Arsenal forward is set to be France’s leading man at the tournament in the absence of Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

He has been in fine form in the build up to the summer showpiece, rounding off his country’s friendly games with two goals in the comfortable 3-0 win over Scotland on Friday.

He is hardly a fan favourite among the French supporters though, who recently took to booing him during a game.

One person he does have the back of is Rodney Marsh though, who believes he could win the Golden Boot at the tournament.

The pressure will certainly be on Giroud to deliver in France with many expecting big things of the hosts.

They are the favourites to win the competition this summer and with a team boasting talent such as Dimitri Payet, Paul Pogba, Antoine Griezmann and several others it is easy to see why.

Giroud may not be the star name in that bunch, but a failure to score the goals required and the fans ire is only likely to grow.
