According to the Mirror, Arsene Wenger is worried he will miss out on Leicester City star Jamie Vardy.

Arsenal made a move to sign Vardy on Friday afternoon, activating a £20 million release clause in his contract.

It had been expected that a deal would be concluded swiftly, with the belief being the striker would make a decision on his future before the end of the weekend.

Indeed, the player had promised Wenger that he would give his answer on Monday when he flew out to France with England ahead of Euro 2016.

However, that call to the Arsenal boss did not come and it has left Wenger fearing that he will face disappointment in his attempts to sign the player.

According to the Mirror, he believes that Vardy would have accepted Arsenal’s offer by now if he was considering making the switch this summer.

There is every chance that he is still mulling over the offer, with the Foxes having moved swiftly to make a counter offer to try an keep their star man at the Kingpower Stadium. 

They are thought to have made on offer of around £100,000-per-week, and there is every chance that has caused him to delay making a decision.
