It is a huge demonstration of faith in the talented defender’s ability from the club, with them clearly believing he could be a star of the future for them

And Ralston was keen to share his delight at his extended deal, saying it is a big achievement for him.

“I’m over the moon,” he told celticfc.net.

“I was here only last year signing a two year contract so to be brought in a year into that to sign a three-year deal is a big achievement. I’m very proud.”

Ralston will now be hoping that he can continue to impress in the youth ranks and make his breakthrough into the Celtic first team before too long.

With Brendan Rodgers now at the helm, he stands every chance of doing just that given the former Liverpool manager is a keen advocate of giving youth a chance.

He brought through the likes of Raheem Sterling, Joe Gomez and Jon Flanagan during his time with the Reds and Ralston will be keen to make a similar breakthrough at Paradise.
