Shane Long scores the first goal for Southampton
Former Southampton striker Rickie Lambert has praised current star Shane Long, talking about how impressed he has been with his recent performances.
Speaking to SkySports Morning View on Monday at 11am, Lambert described Long's performances as 'frightening', in a positive manner.
The West Bromwich Albion forward said he has been watching him closely, and believes he will be a big player for the Republic of Ireland at Euro 2016.

Lambert said: "I have watched Southampton quite a few times in last few weeks. Some of his performances have been frightening, particularly against Manchester City. He ran them ragged.
"His consistency is there, every game he's at his maximum level. For Ireland, he's definitely going to be their number one star."

Long, 29, scored 10 Premier League goals last season, and in recent weeks there has been speculation over his future.
The Mirror tout him as a potential target for both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, while also reporting Southampton are trying to tie him down to an extended contract.
It is unclear what impact Ronald Koeman's potential exit could have on his future, but Southampton will be keen to retain the striker regardless.
He is playing arguably the best football of his career, and it may be better for the Saints he has a quiet European Championships, so not to stir up speculation.
